Principal's Message

Dear Canyon View Elementary School Community,

I am thrilled to be part of the Coyote family as Principal of Canyon View Elementary School. It is a tremendous honor to lead such a highly-regarded school community. 

Canyon View is known for being a true student-centered school, where the outstanding faculty and staff work in collaboration with parents and the greater school community to provide every student with a top-notch education. In addition to providing rigorous and innovative academic programs, Canyon View has built a welcoming and inclusive school culture, providing the conditions necessary for all students to thrive. I enjoy working closely with students, parents, and teachers so that together we can continue this tradition of excellence that makes Canyon View such a unique and wonderful school.

I strongly believe in the power that a great education has to transform the lives of students and have devoted myself to this important work for over twenty-five years. I have previously served as the Principal of Barnett Elementary School in Ramona, and the Vice Principal of Rio Seco, a K-8 school in Santee. My experience also includes one year as an instructional coach for teachers in the area of curriculum and instruction, and seventeen years of classroom teaching in elementary and middle school grades.

On a personal note, I have the honor of being called “Mom” by two teens. My son attends Poway High School and my daughter attends UC Berkeley. When I am not at work, I enjoy being active - exercising, hiking, biking, and camping with my family. I also spend a great deal of time reading and listening to podcasts to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in education.

My leadership style is to be collaborative and approachable. I value and prioritize on-going, two-way communication to build trusting partnerships between all members of the school community. Once again, it is my honor and privilege to be a part of the Canyon View Coyote family. I am confident that we will make many “great days” together in the years ahead!
