Important Updates for the 2026-2027 School Year
Government-Issued Photo Identification Upload Requirement
A new requirement has been added to the volunteer application process.
In addition to the initial photo capture of an identification document, applicants must now upload a PDF or image copy of a valid government-issued photo ID.
This enhancement allows volunteer records to be retained even if the original ID image is no longer visible within the system, helping prevent volunteers from having to resubmit applications due to missing identification records.
Please remember:
- The uploaded document must be a valid, current government-issued photo ID (no military ID’s please).
- The name on the volunteer application must exactly match the name on the identification document.
- If the names do not match, the application should be rejected until the discrepancy has been corrected.
Updated Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance Requirements
Effective immediately, all TB clearances must be documented using the California School Employee Tuberculosis Risk Assessment Questionnaire.
The following documents are the only acceptable forms of TB clearance:
- A completed California School Employee Tuberculosis Risk Assessment Questionnaire
- A clearance chest X-ray report, if required based on the assessment results
Please note that we will no longer accept:
- Physician notes
- Patient portal screenshots
- Blood test results submitted without the required questionnaire documentation
- Any other alternative forms of TB verification
The form can be found on the district volunteer website, or applicants may contact their physician's office to obtain a copy.
TB clearance requirements are pursuant to California Education Code Sections 49406 and 87408.6, and California Health and Safety Code Sections 1597.055, 121525, 121545, and 121555.
AB 1913 Training Requirement for All Level 1 Volunteers
Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, all Level 1 volunteers are required to complete "AB 1913 - A Tool to Protect Our School Community" (formerly Mandated Reporter Training).
To support this requirement, the 2026-2027 volunteer application now includes a designated area where applicants must upload their certificate of completion.
Before approving a Level 1 volunteer application, sites must verify:
- A certificate of completion has been uploaded.
- The certificate was completed within the previous 90 days.
Please note that volunteers who are also PUSD employees may submit their current school-year AB 1913 completion certificate obtained through employee training. These individuals do not need to complete the training a second time for volunteer approval purposes.
Instructions for accessing the training will be posted on the district volunteer website and are also included with this email.
